The Münster Nanofabrication Facility is a state-of-the-art, 300 m² nanofabrication and nanoanalytics machine park classified from ISO 5 to 7. Located at the University of Münster, we provide nanostructuring and nanofabrication technologies for an interdisciplinary research community of scientists and engineers in physics, chemistry, earth sciences and biology, both within and outside the university.

The Münster Nanofabrication Facility at the University of Münster, Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Cleanroom engineer - Nanofabrication (gn) (salary level E 11 TV-L, 100%)

at 100% of the regular working hours (39 hours and 50 minutes) per week. This permanent position is set to commence at the earliest possible date.

Your tasks:

  • Oversee, maintain and support the operation of the following Nanofabrication Tools:
    • Plasma tools such as RIE, ICP-RIE, PECVD
    • PVD tools: sputtering, E-Beam evaporator
    • Lithography tools: mask aligners, EBL, resist coaters
    •  Wet benches
  • Verifying and maintaining the compliance of the facility with the regulations
  • Training and knowledge transfer to the facility users
  • Development and customization of recipes in collaboration with the research groups
  • Support the researchers in the planning of a new fabrication processes
  • Support the installation of new instruments

Our expectations:

  • A bachelor or master degree (FH/University) in the field of micro/nano technology, physics, material science or similar field is required
  • Experience with one or more of the following: RIE, ICP-RIE, PECVD, ALD, PVD (sputtering, thermal or e-beam evaporators), wet etching, mask aligners, nanoimprint tools, EBL and 3D nano-printers is expected
  • The ability to work inside our cleanrooms (ISO 5-7) and labs is required.
  • A good command of written and spoken English is a must.
  • German language skills would be advantageous, but are not a requirement.
  • It would be ideal if you have previous experience in working in technical cleanrooms, preferably in a research environment
  • Experience with process development of nano -or microstructures is advantageous
  • Experience with the installation and maintenance of technical systems, especially cleanroom instrumentation is desirable
  • Ideally you are a strong team player with a quick mind and good organizational and communications skills.
